The team at Complete Function Hire enjoys working closely with the best in the business to deliver stand out dining and event experiences all over Melbourne.
We have been honoured to work alongside Australian hospitality icon, Guy Grossi to provide furniture and equipment hire for some truly impressive events at his restaurant and special events.
Guy Grossi and his team know just how to create unforgettable dining experiences. On this month’s blog, we were privileged to interview Guy to find out about some of his favourite flavours and to get some tips on how to create the most memorable special occasions.
What are your favourite flavours of the moment?
I like simple but bold flavours. Like the simple combination of chilli and garlic or good quality olive oil to dress vegetables. I don’t think flavours need to be complicated to be good. I’m loving the produce that’s coming in at the moment as the seasons start to shift. Autumn is the time for delicious produce such as figs and mushrooms.
What will be the prominent food trends for Melbourne events in 2019?
I think it goes back to the simple philosophy, I think we are going to see lots of simple ways of eating, more rustic, home style eating with less fuss.
Events are all about sharing delicious food at the end of the day, it doesn’t need to be complicated, just tasty and abundant.
Serving suggestions – how can people entertaining at home create simple yet stylish ways to impress their guests?
The best way is to keep it relevant to the dish, if it’s pumpkin tortellini with sage use some fried sage leaves to garnish. You don’t want to garnish for the sake of it. Use fresh lemon if appropriate for fried items, or a simple dusting of icing sugar on a cake, that’s all that’s really needed. I think less is definitely more, let the food speak for itself, arrange it neatly on a plate without going overboard. I’m not into things arranged like a swan.
Thank you to the legendary Guy Grossi for sharing his expert advice on how to impress party guests.
We were proud to be a part of a recent collaborative photoshoot at one of Melbourne’s hottest new event spaces, The Line.
Boasting high ceilings and polished concrete floors, The Line is a warehouse style blank canvas event space where the possibilities are endless.
Tucked down a Footscray laneway, The Line is minimalist with an industrial edge and can accommodate weddings, special occasions and corporate events for up to 200 guests for a cocktail style event.
This unique space allows you to create your dream wedding or amazing event from the ground up ‘with a team of dedicated event visionaries on standby to push the creative boundaries’. Incredible inhouse catering is provided with a range of stand out packages to suit even the most discerning tastes. The team at The Line are passionate, flexible and easy to work with (we know how important these traits are for both wedding and event planners).
No day is the same at Complete Function Hire! We love being a part of amazing Melbourne events in our city’s range of unique function spaces. We work closely with wedding and event planners and our venue partners to provide furniture, décor and equipment hire to perfectly suit your style. On this month’s Complete Function Hire’s Event Spaces We Love, we put the spotlight on Space338 and spoke to Mel Karliecek from this chic venue to find out why Space338 is the perfect choice for your next event.
“Space338 is a versatile event space located in the heart of North Melbourne, just minutes from Melbourne’s CBD. Boasting sand-blasted brick walls, concrete floors and soaring ceilings with industrial beams overhead, Space338’s open plan design is perfect for all sorts of events, giving you true flexibility in how you can utilise it.
When you book Space338, you will have a blank canvas for the night – it’s your space to shape as much, or as little, as you want. Roller door access makes it easy to move equipment, furniture and installations into the space and a servery on site means you can easily store and dish up refreshments and drinks.
Space338 is designed as a DIY venue – you have a space where you have the freedom to bring in whatever you need to make your event a success. Additionally, unlike a lot of other event spaces, there are no hidden costs and no minimum spends, making budgeting for your special event that much easier, there is no limit and we are quiet flexible”.
Complete Function Hire can help create your event at Space338. We can provide a range of furniture ranges to suit this flexible space from tables and chairs to lounge areas and décor to create your desired look. Our Hair Pin range looks striking in the venue as does more classic ranges such as our Bentwood Chairs. For those who want their guests to dance the night away, we can also provide the dancefloor and AV equipment to create a dancefloor like no other!
Space338 is a must see – for your event enquiries, contact Mel (and don’t forget to ask about their 25% OFF venue fee special when you book a Sunday event this month).
Complete Function Hire works closely with Melbourne’s best event planners and brides to be to help create stylish looks for all kinds of parties.
Table settings are a speciality and aside from our many different silver cutlery ranges, we also hire many cool, classic and on trend colours to complement your style. So many event planners and wedding planners are now looking to complete their table settings with cutlery that’s just a little different. Here are our team’s favourite cutlery colours of the moment.
Gold cutlery was popular for both Melbourne weddings and corporate events last year and continue to add a fashionable yet timeless touch to the table in 2017. Gold cutlery is always impressive and complements either a modern or traditional look. Add extra glam to your tables with gold charger plates.
Bronze is an on-trend cutlery colour that is proving to be very popular for both wedding receptions and corporate events. Teaming well with neutral palettes and bright colour schemes alike, bronze cutlery adds elegance to the tables.
The team at Complete Function Hire love helping our clients create amazing events at home. What better excuse for a house party with family and friends than Australia Day?! In Melbourne, you never know what the weather will do so planning ahead is important. Make sure you have all the furniture and equipment you need to show your guests an Australia Day party they will remember with the Complete Function Hire Australia Day party checklist.
Australia Day BBQ
No Australia Day party is complete without a good Aussie spread. A BBQ at home is an easy and cost effective way to feed your hungry guests. Fire up the ‘barbie’ to throw some ‘shrimp’ on. If you have lots of hungry mouths to feed, hiring an extra BBQ, hot plates or warming oven is a good move to ensure your food stays hot and your guests stay full. Classic Australia Day menu choices include lamingtons and a Pavlova – we have a range of platters, cake stands and crockery to make sure your home cooked creations take pride of place on the buffet.
A well-stocked bar is an Australia Day party essential. An easy option for party planners is to create a self-serve bar for guests to help themselves. Ensure you have plenty of trestle tables and ice buckets to create an awesome self-serve bar as well as plenty of glassware to serve ice cold beers and refreshments.
What will the Melbourne weather do on Australia Day? If it is going to be a scorcher or teaming with rain, it is a good tip to plan for both. Market umbrellas will add coverage for both types of weather and our Paddle Furniture range is a great option to provide extra seating for your back-yard party.
Background music is an Australia Day party must have. If you are listening to Triple J’s Hottest 100 Countdown (an Australia Day tradition) or if you need speakers to play your Best of John Farnham (and other Aussie classics), Complete Function Hire offer a one stop shop for all your AV and sound equipment needs.
The team at Complete Function Hire sincerely wish our clients and event partners all the very best for Christmas and a happy new year.
What a year it has been! We have been very busy this year working with our event partners on a range of incredible events and weddings all over Melbourne. For the tenth time this year, it was an honour to work closely with the wonderful team at St Vincent’s Hospital and Fred and Ginger Catering to provide furniture and equipment hire for the Opera in The Market event for St Vincent’s charity. Another stand out charity event for the year was the ‘Off the Menu’ event for Camp Quality Victoria which we were proud to support. Le Tout Melbourne was another exciting 2016 event that showcased the awe-inspiring Hisense Arena. This event was so much fun for our team to work on and attend and really enjoyed working in collaboration with a great group of event suppliers and the awesome events team at Melbourne and Olympic Parks. It was exciting to work in collaboration with our industry partners on various amazing venue showcases this including A Night at The Museum (in conjunction with Restaurant Associates) and A Night on The Park (in conjunction with Melbourne Events Group).
We were excited to launch several new ranges and products this year including our gorgeous, on trend pastel ranges and our stunning Hair Pin furniture range (which was built in house). Our hand built Paddle Range was hugely popular again this year as was our range of coloured cutlery (including black, blue, bronze, gold and white). Other popular event hire products for the year included our timeless Bentwood Chairs which were hired for so many events and weddings as well as our Gold Charger Plates and new white picket fencing.
We were thrilled to launch our ‘Who’s Who at Complete Function Hire’ blog series that allows our wonderful clients to get to know our team. We also launched a series of blog articles designed to assist event planners and brides with the most up to date trends and advice. We were so excited for Complete Function Hire ‘All Rounder’ Matty Slingo who announced the arrival of his son this year and we congratulated Mitch Costin who stepped up into the role of Operations Manager. We were proud to announce our partnership with the Melbourne Rebels football club this year and a team highlight was a guided tour of AAMI Park Stadium as well as attending some exciting matches and events.
Thank you to our valued clients and trusted event partners for your ongoing support – our team loves working closely with you all and we are gearing up for a huge 2017!
